Malcolm Cheape was born in Perth, Scotland in 1964 and was educated at Ardvreck school and the prestigious Fettes College in Edinburgh, Scotland. From 1983-1986 he studies fine art at Duncan of Jordanstone College of art in Dundee, Scotland where he obtained his B.A.(hons) degree. He took a post graduate course at the same college 1986/87.

Whilst Malcolm Cheape is an exceptionally gifted draughtsman his work also takes on a wonderfully abstract quality by means of adding text and collage to his detailed images of harbours, sailing ships and general nautical themes.

He has exhibited extensively since 1986 with many leading UK galleries. His paintings can be found in many private and corporate collections throughout the world including British petroleum, Aberdeen, City Art Centre, Edinburgh, Stakis Hotels and Reeves and Nylan Perth.
